The Middle Ages were a time of great change and progress.

For a handful of people I guess.

Wow what a fantastic set of assumptions about the 'older generation'.

They aren't assumptions. Politicians didn't promise to protect pensioner benefits and return the link to inflation on pensions to gain the votes of twenty some-things. Teenagers aren't buying the Daily Mail / Mirror, their content is written to appeal to their mostly middle-aged readership. It isn't high school children who are putting up anti-building signs around villages where new housing is proposed.

My only assumption is that I assume these decisions were made by people who were ignorant of the consequences. I suppose it is possible that they intentionally sold the future to fund living beyond their means... but I like to believe the best of people.

    Not at all!

    For pretty much everyone.

3.5x joint average income plus 10% deposit will get you a decent place up here. I personally have no plans to go anything above 3x joint. So in the case of this area, nothing would happen

  • The figures for house prices is that the average price of housing is a long way from its long-term relationship with average earnings. The graph shows the ratio has declined over the housing crisis, but rose dramatically. Bear house prices indicate that prices will eventually fall to hit the medium and long term.

OK I stand corrected, should have said "feudal planning laws" as being a main cause of our poor housing stock.

Could you kindly let us all know how much you know about feudal planning laws? I've rather lost the thread of what you were saying, but I expect that you were really looking for words to describe your dislike of current planning laws, such as arcane, over-prescriptive (or under-prescriptive depending on your POV), and bureaucratic.

To be frank, it's sometimes better to give in and just stop digging the hole.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

That's totally illogical, but never mind. Have a nice day, now.

Weren't any, apart from the afore-mentioned prohibition on castle building.
