silk flowers

Hi has anyone ever considered / had silk flowers for their wedding / celebration. i've had a look at some site on the internet who are doing the 'better' quality ones. They look great. Some have samples you can order so I guess this is the way to go first. My thoughts are that they seem cheaper, they would be especially good for the flower girl, as she is little and they will withstand her playing with them - she can keep them afterwards. Also I like the idea of keeping my bouquet afterwards as well. comments?

  • Im having silk flowers as the price is just so much cheaper and i can keep everything afterwards.

I also dont have to worry about throwing a £300 bouquet

Im going to use my flowers for decorations as well I want Calla lilly stem bouquets (which im making myself stems tied with ribbon *squeak* simples) so then after the cermony someone will split them up and put one each into a long vase in the middle of the table add some tea lights around the vase

so all my table decorations and my flowers are costing less than £100

I'm thinking of artificial flowers, believe it or not I actually got mine from dunelm mill they feel quite soft, you may be able to "feel" some instore.
    £4.99, 18 stem bouquets

I bought some in cream/ivory, red and black
I'm separating the flowers so theres some of each colour in mine and the bridemaid bouquets, taking out the "greenery" in there (its only bendy wire) and I'm going to add some nicer "greenery" and some sticky diamond type things and then re wrap them in nice ribbon as the actual stems aren't quite as "realistic" as the petals

  • I had silk flowers for my bouquet, the bridesmaids and my table decorations. I'm not a fan of real flowers because they just wilt and die in the end, not the imagery I wanted to associate with my wedding day! I was so happy with my bouquet it was so beautiful and exactly what I wanted, it's sitting on my mantelpiece now and I'll be able to keep it there forever! :)

I was going to have fresh flowers for mine and BM's bouquet, but they weighed a tonne, I didn't realise how heavy a fresh flowered bouquet could be lol!

So we are having artificial bouquets ~ we have cream peonys, pink peonys, cream roses, and a hot pink double headed lily in them. Mine has hot pink gerbera in there too. It's just what I was looking for and the best bit is, we can keep them and nobody will ever have the same!

It cost me £50 for the flowers, and £20 for bits to jazz them up ~ diamante and pearls on wires, ribbon etc..

    Hi folks.

I bought my wedding flowers from A1 weddings on ebay

    http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/a1weddings

They are absolutely beautiful, and made to order. They're fantastically priced, the seller is fabulous and they're so life like it's shocking. She uses real quality materials. I got my bouquet, 2 bridesmaids bouquet and 4 buttonholes for £35 plus postage and package. I would recommend her to anyone!
Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)
  • They look fab, is there a place you can buy good artificial flowers and put them together yourself?

these are where im looking at for mine am going to order a tester in a couple of weeks to see what they are like

they have bouquets arrangements and single stems

am doing my stems with ribbon and stick on gems from hobbycraft (probably cheaper on ebay but havent looked yet lol)
