Depends how much you want to spend.
Here's a dirt cheap Matsui from Dixons which costs £3.89 delivered.

Otherwise this Philips which costs £20 delivered from Amazon gets excellent reviews and was judged a Best Buy by Which magazine.

Steam generators are supposed to be more efficient but you have to decide whether it's worth spending anywhere from £100 to £200 plus. This Philips is £100 delivered.

My Tefal Express died recently. I have been very happy with it. I replaced it with the Bosch from Currys and so far I'm very happy with that too. In fact there's nothing to choose between the 2 so I'd go for the cheapest.0

I bought a Bosch one when Argos had the offer on a while back and I'm well pleased with it.
I definitely recommend a pressurised iron, mine is 4.5 bar - it really does make ironing both easier and quicker.

These irons seem to come up often at around £79.99, so wouldn't pay more.

I have just bought the Philips Steam Generator iron from Argos. Its on offer. Was £199 now £133 so a big saving. I looked at the ?Which reports on them recently & Philips came out well. Some other makes you have to buy cartridges (Anti-Calc) but the Philips one is permanent & just needs washing. Think the cartridges are quite pricey so this is worth considering if buying one.0

Please be aware that getting replacement parts for Phillips steam generator irons is very difficult. I waited from September to May to get my iron repaired and it has now just developed another fault! This time I will probably go for a Bosch or Tefal. When I was getting my iron repaired the repair shop said that Tefal parts are much easier to get than Phillips.0

I had a steam generator iron from Lidls a good few years back, it was an ugly old thing - looked very old fashioned with cork handle but fashioned on the Polti...anyhow it was marvelous until I tripped and sent it flying across my kitchen and it smashed - had it for about 6 years. Not being able to live without a steam generator I rushed out and bought one from Robert Dyas - cannot remember the make but it ran out of water so quickly and was a nuisance having to wait until it was cool enough to unscrew the water tap without a gush of steam......I longed for it to die and my wish was soon granted. I have gone back to standard steam iron - Morphy Richards SteamGlide that could not burn a hole in anything, absolutely useless so just recently went for the 2.4 Russell Hobbs Steam Advange from Tesco's using my double up vouchers was on offer for 19.99 and its great. I am going to buy another as a spare.:T I always look at Lidl and Aldi because they do have a three year guarantee provided you keep your receipt. I have just had a SilverCrest Mini Oven replaced just after a years use with a new one.SallyD0
