Thanks for the brew GB xx
Yes, i could'nt believe i saw a butterfly at this time of the year, especially up here. Its so high above sea level.
My karma is all over the place. I should take heed. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. This is to myself.
Have a good day, everyone xx

Well done on seeing the butterfly, you know, thinking about it, i dont see many butterflies. I remember as a child always seeing them flit about in the garden but in recent years i've not been conscious of seeing many at all.RuthnJasper wrote: »Cheers Geebz - thanks everyone for your good wishes; am definitely on the mend now. Had a VERY quiet day (Jasper collected by his dog-sitter, so I could have total silence) and slept most of it. Feeling MUCH better.

Slightly less-pleased about my line-manager (who doesn't seem to like me too much at the mo). Have received no less than three emails from her since Monday, all saying the same thing: "please notify me when you return to work". Do any of you know - is this OK? I thought that if an employee was genuinely unwell, one should leave them alone to recover (unless they fail to call the office in the morning)? Ah well.
Jasper back now and we're doing OK. How's everyone else?
xx
Glad you're feeling a lot better Roo, though no thanks to the manager, i really dont think thats a very good or common practice, and actually something that she should be quite ashamed of doing. :mad:If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them~Dalai LamaHow people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours~Wayne DyerLet none find fault in others. THANK YOU Geebz - that's sort of what I think. I just haven't had that sort of experience before, so I wasn't sure if it is normal or or not... there are actual several things that she's said/done to me of late that I would be ashamed of doing to anyone else myself... but I'm being good and not retaliating... xx0 -

I've never had it done to me, thats for sure and would be furious, one email i would overlook but 3????... in 3 days???.... not necessary at all. She asked you to let her know when you came back to work. You will do that WHEN you go back, there is no need for her to keep emailing at all. :mad:If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them~Dalai LamaHow people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours~Wayne DyerLet none find fault in others. Exactly Geebz. Thanks again. It's good to have someone else's take on things (Jasper's comments generally tend to be limited to food, being asleep, or his "Little Jasper". Not always terribly helpful to a girl...).
It's not as if I have a reputation for skiving or taking spurious sickies either. I'm not going to dwell, as I know it will make me unhappy - more than it needs to. But I cannot BEAR it if people think I'm dishonest - that's the one thing that REALLY gets to me, if I let it.
Also, I'm a firm believer in giving someone the benefit of the doubt unless there is GENUINE reason to suspect otherwise. I have line-managed staff before and always prided myself on fairness - even if I didn't particularly warm to someone's personality; everyone is entitled to a fair chance.
My current problem is that, a few months ago, our happy office environment was invaded by a real-world Troll (akin to the virtual kind, which this thread is forever on the alert to weed-out). It's not just me who had fallen under the shadow of her horns. It tends to be all of the honest, hard-working and intelligent folk who are currently being zapped by her "Troll-o-cutor".
Troll-o-cutor in action (Troll on left):
I'm a realist. These things happen. Alas, despite all available evidence, someone higher up the chain is failing to deal with her.
I've had worse. But, to be honest, it does grind you down sometimes. Especially when said Troll is demonstrably less intelligent than the rest of us... Gotta keep smiling though, eh? As you probably know, it's impossible to argue with a Troll - best strategy is ALWAYS to refuse to respond in kind. Temporary relief can be obtained here and at http://www.thatsmyboss.com/...
Trolls are there to be pitied. And then crushed like dry twigs!!! :rotfl:0 -

I'm the same Roo, i really get frustrated when people question my honesty, when basically people who know me know that i'm as honest as the day's long and wouldnt dream of deceiving people.
As for people being given a fair chance, i'm with you on that too, i pride myself on being firm but fair.
I would definitely let this manager know that you aren't happy that when you eventually opened your mailbox, you were spammed by her asking her to inform her when you return. Just let her know that once would have been more that sufficient. If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them~Dalai LamaHow people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours~Wayne DyerLet none find fault in others.
