No, sorry If... i dont watch anything like that, very rarely watch TV at all, except for the odd documentary, although i have got rather into "An idiot abroad" just lately. Karl Pilkington absolutely cracks me up with his totally unimpressed and very childlike view of the world and the "wonders" therein. :rotfl:

I very rarely have need to post on this thread however I have had to report a post this morning on another board & I am very upset by it.
Please don`t get upset by posts & remember the abuse button is there if you feel the post to be upsetting or inciteful.
SSA
Bad luck, SSA. In my years on MSE, I've perhaps been fortunate in only having to report @3 posts. I HAVE been upset by others, but they were cutting snipes, as opposed to troll-taunts. Leaves a nasty taste in the mouth, doesn't it?
Personally, I can't understand what pleasure trolls get from their deluded antics. Like vandals. Once, on a train coming back from the theatre in London, I sat opposite a farmer. We got chatting and he said he was p*ssed-off because he'd just been a victim of vandalism. He had just planted several vast orchards of apple-trees, as he was intending to diversify into organic cider production. Some kids had got in one night and ridden quad-bikes all over the place, destroying thousands of pounds-worth of the saplings. Why? For what? There was no lasting testament to what they had done (as can be argued in the case of graffiti). No-one witnessed and appreciated their efforts; and any "enjoyment" was strictly limited. Yet their mindless actions had killed hundreds of living saplings and almost ruined the farmer's business. Why?
I mean, seriously, why?
All we can do here is to keep reporting their abuse and maintain this thread so as to warn others. Trolls are humans not worthy of the species. Even tapeworms don't behave like trolls.
Peace.

Geebz - I've been a fan of Ricky, Steve and Karl since their XFM days! My brother gave me the "An Idiot Abroad" book for my birthday. I don't watch ANY TV (can't afford the licence these days), so I read LOADS of books. I wouldn't mind seeing Strictly, though. I've met Ann Widdecombe; she's fab - I have a lot of respect for her! Anyway, I've just reviewed Karl's book on Amazon. Here's my review, in case you are interested:
"My brother gave me this book for my birthday yesterday, as I've been a fan of Ricky, Steve & Karl since their XFM days. I've actually finished the book already; it was that funny, I couldn't put it down!
It was a good, interesting, &, in its own unique Karl-type way, insightful read. To those readers familiar with the trio, & who haven't watched the TV series, it quickly becomes clear that Karl's small production unit are colluding with Ricky & Steve to set Karl up in situations which they know will irritate him - e.g. getting him to film with a gay man on a nudist beach in Brazil.
In each country, Karl generally stays or travels with a local resident, most of whom are incredibly poor. Despite their hardship & daily circumstances (one delightful young man in India, Ashek, lives in what is essentially a garage), these people are extremely generous with their time & hospitality. In some cases, however, these parts of the book left me rather saddened for some of those who opened their homes to Karl - he was so rude & offensive to them. In one case in particular, Karl mentions how he pushed some food into the face of an elderly Chinese lady whilst shouting at her (in her own home, after she & her family had welcomed him in & cooked for him), just because she was trying to encourage him to try a bit of a different dish and this irritated him.
Plus, Karl was never actually that impressed by the Wonders - I hoped he might have ultimately learned to appreciate something, as there was a quote from his last wonder (Machu Picchu) at the beginning of that chapter in which he said "Magnificent. I'm speechless." So I thought that he might have actually gained some kind of new understanding from his experiences - but on reading the chapter, you find that he was just spouting it to Steve Merchant so that he could get out of the trip a day or two early. Somehow, it left me with a vague feeling of disappointment that a man who has experienced some of the world's most amazing treasures & cultures willingly persists in ignorance & disdain for much of what he encounters.
That said, it is definitely a book worth reading, with several laugh-out-loud moments, & offers a uniquely in-depth look at some of our world's most incredible people & places (as well as Karl’s misadventures with the various toilet facilities of each country…).
Karl really is just a simian buffoon with "a head like a f**king orange", but he certainly makes for a fascinating travelling companion."0 -
A new page time for one of these x
Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.
What is a Troll?
A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made. If you should get such a comment made on any thread you post, asking for help and advice, please realise this comment is not directed at you personally so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal because the majority of us really are a lovely bunch – ooops, modesty!
What should I do if I get a comment made on my thread?
Firstly do not respond to the comment as this is invariably what the troll wants. So to get rid of the offending post, at the bottom of the post towards the right hand side you’ll see a red "Warning" triangle within a blue “Abuse” icon, as shown below:
Click the icon and then "send" the message which will inform the abuse team of the post, who will then review its content and deal with it as appropriate; sometimes even deleting the troll by making their status PPR’d (Posting Privileges Removed). Remember, this site is an asset to so many people, especially those that feels like their world is falling in around them. There is a wealth of knowledgeable people here all willing to help, whatever you do, do not let the comments of one silly individual deter you from availing yourself of the knowledge base that is on offer here.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE FORUM
It is testament to the work that Martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time, knowledge and experience freely to others; without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of their debt crisis
PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT0 -
Hmmm, I wish a cake would solve all my problems right now.
Excuse me for being blunt. I don't know what all the bickering is about, or even who it between, this week. But it has all been very upsetting, especially to someone who IS bankrupt, and facing repossession in a weeks time. And yes, i have been out walking in recent weeks, despite the fact i too have arthiritis, ' poorly ' knees, and all the rest of it. Its all been a question of mind over matter, for me, in my recovery. No i was'nt suggesting anything sinister for other people, as opposed to bankruptcy. I have spent more than a several years prior to my bankruptcy, trying to pay off my debts, sometimes working 20 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Maybe that helps put some sort of perspective on things for other people, generally, and ' trolls ' too, for this is the trolls thread. Is'nt this what this board is supposed to be about? The very difficult process of bankruptcy? Other issues, can be dealt with, elsewhere.
Now i've had my sound off, and maybe i'll be banned from the boards, as my thread seems to have been locked for no apparent reason, other than i was trying to be helpful. And yes, its all been extremely upsetting, this week. This is'nt what i expected. Trying to work out all the ' ' undertones ' that are in abundance, around here. With that, i will refrain from trying to use the bankruptcy board, even though its still of some practical use to me, regarding information. For indeed, i AM bankrupt, and i'm having my home repossessed in a weeks time.
Nohope
So sorry things are grim, NoHope. Am sure you will find advice somewhere on here. Please try and keep smiling; even though it's tough. One day, this will be history and you will be looking back on it, all the wiser for your experiences.
And please don't try to top yourself because of your problems, either. It's never worth it. I've tried seriously three times to end my life (debts, plus other things) and it's never as easy as you think. It's bl**dy hard to end a life, AND it REALLY hurts too. And, if that wasn't enough - it SERIOUSLY p*sses Jasper off as well. You don't want that on your conscience, believe me.
Keep going. Not too far now, then everything will be OK.
