I'm lucky enough to have received another job to start on 7th of Jan so don't really need to use any of that money to live on xx

You can - very, very roughly.

If you go to mortgage calculator, and type in the amount you had left to pay before OPs, it will tell you how much the balance would have been without the OPs.

Then have a look and find the month when the balance would have been the same as it is currently with OPs, and yo can see how many months ahead you are.

    Does that make sense?

Edit: That one only gives you years, but I'm sure you could find one for months.
  • Thank you i'll have a look. I have my own spreadsheet but seem to be always out by £80 in my favour so not complaining :-)

  • **********GREAT NEWS********

Just had a lovely letter from Northern rock saying I'm owed all the interest from 2009 for my unsecured part of the loan. Won't know for definite how much it will be (will take 12 weeks for the redress) I'm done basic sums in my head and feel it will be around £3500. A nice little sum to be taken off my mortgage!

  • Well i start my new job on the 18th of March, going back to work full time which will cost me approx £200 a week in childcare :-( but i'm thinking of the future and when my youngest starts school will go down a lot and I'll be loads better off. I also find being at home I spent money unnecessarily and my household bills should decrease slightly xx

  • Well I'm undecided if to make an overpayment this month or not because im due a redress and am still not paying interest on the unsecured part of the loan. I might wait till the redress has been added then make a lump sum overpayment, I've got till Friday to decide ??

Well done you! We are OP'ing by £36 pm and it has knocked off just over a year off our term and £20k off interest. Definately worth it. Keep it up.
