Gledhill Torrent HE advise needed

We are currently looking to change our heating system, we are oil fired and have been looking at condensing boilers. We have a very hot bungalow which is approx 135sqm over two floors.
I came across Gledhill cylinder products last week, as they offered a means of generating mains pressure hot water for the house without having the need for an unvented cylinder. Which requires building regs and annual servicing.
I wonder if there is anyone out there that knows how successful this system is when combined with the solar panels Torrent HE model.
Advise welcome

Gledhill are one of the main cylinders used by popular solar installations (we use to sell £40K a month worth of Gledhills as a merchant ). I'm not sure where you got the idea that an unvented cylinder requires building regs, I have never heard that before and can't see why it would anyway.
I've met Paul Gledhill on a number of occasions and he knows his onions.0 -
Thanks Skiduck
If you go on the gasapplianceguide, website it posts the benefits of the mains pressure vented cylinders over unvented. One being that unvented cylinders now require building regulations on installation due to the pressure contained within them and potential risk if poorly or incorrectly fitted.
It also mentioned that they require annual maintenance to check on pressure, which is not the case in a vented cylinder.I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -

Hi Mike, yep I have just read that, interesting - we never get involved in building regs unless it is for one of our own projects.0
