Sony Vaio laptop won't charge

Options
Hi,
My partner's sony Vaio laptop won;t charge.
It's just over a year old and has been hardly used until the last few weeks.
I have a spare charger and tried that to no avail.
It's completely dead now.
Would the battery need changing already?
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

    Hi,

Its unlikely to be the battery that's the problem.

The laptop should work without a battery from only the laptop adapter in most cases.

As you have tried another charger & that didn't work, it could be that the main connector on the laptop needs repair.

Seeing as its over a year old, I assume you might be out of warranty, unless you had purchased an extended warranty of which case you can get it fixed by Sony.

I don't think took out extended warranty.
just before the battery ran out i noticed the headphone socket wasnt working.
how much do you think the repair would cost roughly?
    thanks

I charge £30 but then apparently according to the forum I'm very cheap. I've seen someone on Ebay charging £35 plus return shipping.
