Creation consumer finance limited
Warning update!
Hi all - I had eye surgery with Optimax and chose to take up their offer of 0% interest repayments over 12 months. I had themoney available and so it is sitting in my nominated bank account just waiting to be taken each month.
Direct debit instruction was completed with the correct information - then over the bank holiday weekend, I receive a phone call from Creation saying I am in arrears and they have applied a charge of £30! I asked how can I be in arrears if they never requested payment and they said they did and the bank refused it stating I had cancelled the Direct Debit. This was news to me so I asked them to provide me with a copy of the bank transaction report confirming this and was told that they do not have to prove anything!!!!! I BEG TO DIFFER!!!!
I have checked with my bank who have confirmed that no DD was ever requested by Creation and I have told Creation that I can prove they didn't ask for payment. I told them that I wanted to pay the original debt off in one payment and the pre-recorded telephone message states I can do this via their website - WHAT A FARCE THAT WAS. A total of FIVE failed attempts to get through the payment screens and today I have been told that the website payment system is not functioning properly so payment probably won't have been taken!!!!
The call centre staff have been abrupt and dismissive and have even tried to end my calls mid conversation. I was also refused when I asked to speak to a manager and it also proved difficult getting that managers name for my records.
I work in admin so I type up the content of every conversation I have with them and have today sent a letter formally complaining about the way I was treated. This has made me feel ill as I have never been in debt before....I will keep you posted on the going's on of this one.........

When did you have the surgery? I hope it wasn't 12 Months ago!!
Isn't it normal for these things to make no payments for 12 Months, then it is up to you to repay the whole lot incurring zero interest, or enter into some obscene apr credit agreement?0 -

Hi - No my agreement was for repayments to start 1 month after the surgery - my eyes were done on 23 July 2010 and DD was due to be taken on 23 August 2010 - they say I cancelled it with my bank which I never. They were offering 0% finance and I turned down payment protection - so the only way they will be able to make any sort of money out of me is to apply charges - Out of order and they are messing with the wrong person.0 -
P.S - My angry emoticon is not directed at your comment - just how I am feeling about this company0

Well - here is my update so far. The DD seems to have been set up and cancelled on the same day (6th August) I did not cancel it and my bank have no reference as to who or why it got cancelled. I was told however that a DD is set up when requesting 1st payment. It is possible that they requested it on 6th which was not in our agreement (payment day was to be 23rd of each month) and so it was refused there and then. This means that the DD cannot be used a second time (so I am led to believe - would appreciate someone in banking to confirm this). Subsequently, when they asked for it on 23rd - the agreement was not there.
I have paid this off in full (fingers crossed they don't return the payment) and they have cancelled the charges as a 'gesture of goodwill' - a sentence which I object to as I do not think it should ever have been applied in the first place. I was treated very poorly by 3 of the 4 staff I spoke with. I have worked in a call centre and now in the finance business - so I have enough background in both to know how you deal with these things (or at least enough to SOUND like I know what I am talking about lol). I did lose my cool a couple of times with the 3 rude staff, but I can only say that if you find your credit agreement is going to be with Creation - SEARCH THE INTERNET FIRST TO READ ABOUT PEOPLES BAD EXPERIENCES!!!!! I have never had this trouble with other loan companies.
Hopefully I wont need to come back to add to this thread so TTFN0 -
Hi
I also have an agreement with creation finance which was due to be paid on the 22 July 2010.
I paid my account in full online on 17 July 2010, which was accepted and I was given a receipt number.
On the 8 August they took a direct debit payment and i immediately rang to ask why, and was told that they were having
trouble with their website and the payment hadn't gone through. When I asked why I hadn't been informed they said that the payment
had been declined, so I had broken the agreement. I had already cancelled my direct debit and so they are charging me £30 for doing so.
Now they want a letter from my card company stating that the payment was not declined.
I have offered to pay the full amount minus the ddr as having paid online and been given a receipt number, I thought that this matter had been paid.
Also I cannot log into my account with them agian as the site tells me that account no longer exists.
Any comments on what to do next would be appreciated as I really do not know what to do next.

Hello, hope somebody can help, bought a laptop from Bennett's Nov'09 on a buy now pay in a year and day (with Creation Finance) paid off sum a few days after due date, however account had already been charged over £100 in fees, called next day and more charges had been put on doubling the price of the laptop, know this was my fault, but noticed on contract the shop assistant asked me to sign section for store person while she signed customer part, also a few days after this Bennett's sent me more forms to sign, as they had forgotten when I ordered laptop, is there anything I can do to cut charges?
P.S Have also spoken to creation who say I will have to sort it out with Bennett's!0 -
What did you think would happen when you didn't bother paying until after the cut off date for interest free period ?
You seemed happy enough with all this signature stuff when you were walking off with the new laptop.0 -

Think the op posting on the old one, is having trouble paying themDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
