First day of the month, and first day of spending

2 D/Debits out of bank this morning - TV Licence and Gas/Electric

As I left work I picked up a pack of deli silverside (200g - [strike]£2.98[/strike] 75p) and a pack of deli Yorkshire Ham (365g - [strike]£4.71[/strike] £1.49) - total £2.30 after pennies and staff discount dropped into sealed pot

Then round to A!di - punnet of nectarines, bag of potatoes, cucumber and a loaf of bread - £1.90 (incl pennies)

Had to go and collect DS's push bike from H@lfords (been in for repairs at his expense), so hit a few other stores while out in the car and on the way

Mr T - value ham (x3 small packs), mini cheddars (100% free, so £1.59 for 14 packs and one of my faves :D), milk (had coupon for 75p off if spending > £2 on milk - still slightly dearer than A!di, but it meant DS could have f/fat while I've got skimmed instead of getting 2 f/fat and me using l/life), and a tub of finest Moroccan style Couscous which I shall try for lunch tomorrow ([strike]£1[/strike] 20p) - total £6.70 (with value of voucher added to sealed pot funds)
Also filled my fuel tank while here as was running on not much more than fumes (£47)

Mr A - two pairs of trousers for work (£10. Wanted 5 - one per day to keep down washing bills - but they only had 2, and both of those came from the stock room as there weren't any out on the shop floor), and DS got several stationary bits and computer accessories he wants/needs for Uni (his bill)

Arg0s - new combi oven (£75 totally unplanned and unexpected bill !!!), as mine blew between breakfast Mon & breakfast Tues - think it must have been linked to the power outage our area suffered on Monday night, but can't prove it

Woo first one in the bag... I ran out of milk this morning, but didnt want to waste a spend day just on milk!!!!! So I dug out some skimmed milk powder, and actually made 2 pints up!
I did that on Monday, so picked up another NSD!!

Hya all...what a lot of posts already!!!
I haven't been on since Saturday and it has taken most of today to catch up with everything!!

You are doing sterling work spoon...please put me down for 18 NSDs this month. I managed to break my second August target and got 19, so hopefully the 18 will be do-able. A spendy day today, some bills for DS2's college course, as well as a wonderful econd hand marble-topped drawer unit we will be using as an island unit in the kitchen!! :j

Won't get "rid" of DS1 (back to Uni) until the end of September, so the food bill is going to be big again this month...aaargh! At least DS2 starts college next week, but lives at home, so back to packed lunches again!!

Right, off to bed...really need to get back into a sensible sleep routine...it will help my weight-loss and overall health, which hasn't been good the last couple of months.

    Night, night all.

Our previous cooker died after a power outage...as did the dishwasher, I think there was a distinct surge in power when it came back on which did for both machines. I was in Scotland with the boys at the time, and DH was on his own. He sensibly waited until I got home so we could get a new cooker together! We still haven't replaced the dishwasher.....having two big boys we don't need to....though they have something else to say about that!

You are doing well again with the woopsies...I never seem to find anything I want or at a decent price cut. Hoh, hum!

DS2 starts on 13th, so moves out very early on 8th (only 1 more week with the milk monster :T)

I have to 'deliver' him and the last of his belongings at my parents house (35 miles away), and then get home in time to get lunch, get changed and be at work for 1pm.... and I'm hoping to fit in a run as well, so it will be early, though I may let him have some breakfast before [strike]shoving[/strike] [strike]pushing[/strike] encouraging him into the car rolleyes2.gif

Guess this could be 'cos it's his first year though, and that the other years aren't back until 20th unknown.gif I know he only has his time-table for the first week, which sounds like it's all "find your feet" and "meet your lecturers"

Hooray, the first day of September for me was an NSD! So... that means I have achieved 8 so far this month!!!

    Just kidding... only 1 :D
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

DS2 has been at College doing pre-season rugby training since the second week in August. It's his first year of a National Diploma in Sport (specialising in Rugby), starting lessons next week will be a bit of a shock for him!! At least the mini-bus service will be starting then, so neither DH nor I will have to take him (10 miles), mind you, he has training in the evenings, so one of us will have to bring him back!!

Good luck to your DS2, he will enjoy it, although it will be hard initially. At least staying with your parents, you'll know that he's eating enough and your own food bills will be significantly less!!

Well, I'm not sure if I'm a returnee or a regular, but I'd like to set my target as 16 this month please (finally braving a slight increase) and already declaring today as number 1 :)

What all this talk of rubber and pirates?! Didn't have time to read all 7 pages (its only the 1st of september!!!) but if there is a pirate day can I make a suggestion? Any of us on FB could change their settings to Pirate language for the day - ie rather than 'you've got a notification from Fred', it comes up as 'that thieving skallywag Fred has cast a hail-shot across ye bow!' etc etc?! Although it does get a bit confusing, would be fun for a day :) Let it be known to yer mateys tha' ye olde Facebook be in other landlubber tongues!!
    You're a regular, kate, definitely:A

Read the first page for the hint about rubber and pirates:D:D

Thank you Solventsoon for such a warm welcome. As a long time lurker it's so nice to be accepted as part of such a lovely group. Well, day one has gone very well today. It's my ninth wedding anniversary (had already bought the card) and we've never really gone in for extravagent presents etc so so far no money spent. I'm going straight home and then to the gym (I know... not very anniversary orientated, but come on... no one REALLY celebrates nine years do they?) but it's free (well... very cheap membership) and I figure I may as well be at the gym spending no money rather than at home watching telly and spending no money. I just wish I could curb my snacking as easily as I seem to be able to curb my spending. I am at work and we've just had champagne and nibbles to wish one of the Partners well who is leaving for pastures new. I mean I KNOW I'm going to the gym so why scoff just because it's there... it really is a very annoying trait I have, but I seem to think because it's free I NEED to take it. I am therefore going to try and make my NSD - no spend days AND no snack days! Anyway... at least no money has been spent! Thanks for listening... Lucy-Lu

Hi Lucy-Lu, we're really all very friendly here, so please feel free to join in with the chat and general nonsense, good to have you join us.

Glad day 1 has gone OK and happy 9th wedding anniversary.

You're right about snacking... that's the ruination of lots of our NSDs:(:(

Look forward to seeing you posting and joining in with us all.

Thanks for the lovely welcome Solventsoon. I feel very proud and honoured to be amongst all you challengers. Managed to get a NSD today which was fantastic. I even got a free lunch as darling BF surprised me with a visit at work today and bought me lunch (so had my lunch for tea so didn't have to cook either!) Tomorrow should be ok but hate saying that as I feel like I will probably jink it in some way and end up having to shell out for some "emergency"! I know I'll have to spend on Friday as both DDs are having their back to school haircuts. Doh!!

    Good luck for tomorrow everyone.

Ah, thanks, it's a pleasure miss ep, lovely to have you join the madhouse. Feel free to join in with all the chat and nonsense on here, we're all very friendly and welcoming. Good luck for this month
and what a lovely BF you have.
