I have successfully reduced dh's cholesterol - he didn't need to lose weight but had his cholesterol checked after his dad died last year and had to lower it.
1. Exercise - sorry, but this was key to dh's success - he runs and now really tries to exercise at least 3 times a week - but walking would help too
2. Cut out as much as possible high fat dairy products - we still have low fat yoghrt and skimmed milk
3. No hydrogenated fat in anything
4. Eat more fruit, veggies, beans and nuts (fattening but good for you)
5. No skipping meals - then filling up on junk because you're ravenous.
6. When I bake I try to use recipes that use oil instead of butter or marg - Mr Badexamples choc yoghurt cake is a great favourite here
This is what worked for us - hope it helps:beer:“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
