Can someone please explain the acronym's Used on this forum?

Hi.

As title.

Ive tried searching the forums to find an answer but no joy.

SOA
DFW
DFD
DCA
DPA

Sorry if they are obvious.. but I just dont "get" them :)

    If you look at FAQ and then unoffical Moneysaving expert questions they are there. ;)
  • took me ages to work some of them out and i still don't know all of them.
    SOA - statement of accounts, this is explained pretty well in one of the "sticky" (top) threads, its basically where you list all your incomings and outgoings per month and wait for people to rip it to shreds! :rotfl:
    DFW - debt free wannabe
    DFD - debt free date (ie, when u expect all your dabts to be paid off)
    DCA - debt collection agency i think
    DPA - debt payment agency? not sure of this one, maybe someone else can confirm?

    good luck on working them all out, think some of the more regular members forget that the newbies have never come accross some of these terms before. i know you can find out if u search hard enough but the search function is a bit pants as u will find out :rolleyes: . always thought it would be nice to have some kind of appendix/index which listed all the common abbreviations although maybe this would be too big a task - i wouldn't like to be in charge of it :eek:

    also include savings and amounts/apr/who debt is with
    e.g. £5000- 19.9% apr- barclays credit card

    DW darling wife
    OH other half
    IR inland revenue
    OR official reciever
    SAR subject access request, getting your data under the data protection act
    CCA consumer credit act
    DWP department work pensions

    there are more, these are just a couple off the top!

  • That's cleared up quite a bit for me too :o - I was slowly working them out and have been meaning to read through the stickies properly but seem to get sidetracked rather a lot :D
