My friend told me about this one, i saw it yesterday myself in a second location so i am posting it here in the hope others will find the same.
Paul Simon beds are on a Bank Holliday Sale event.
50% off loads of beds/Mattresses, with an extra 20% today.
He got a Memory foam mattress for less than half price, in interest free payment too!
He and i are both South east, but different areas so it may be these savings are available Nationwide, good luck,

Did you know that Paul Simon's prices (as well as many of the other big chain stores) are more than double what you could pay on line anyway. They can only afford to give these reduction because of the massive mark ups they put on mattresses in the first place.0 -

aye. that's why Garfunkel got a bit cheesed off and left him....:D0 -
Ha Ha nice one Thommy,
TBH its not my call on the cost/value issue with a high street retailer but i fully agree that online prices are usually very good. Many users of MSE seem to like the walk in approach rather than online shopping.
I just noted that today you could save over 50% off the (high?) regular price, i leave it to the discerning consumer to decide if thats a deal or not.Marry a Foreigner, its so much cheaper!0 -
I was wondering if anyone knew if Paul Simon get manufacturers to make certain models for them only in the same way Dreams do.
I've seen a Sleepeezee Illusion 1400 mattress in their store which we liked but with a bit of looking on the internet have found the Sleepeezee Touch Classic 1400 which seems like the same model although I'm not certain of this which is of course cheaper online despite Paul simon's current sale.
Has anyone got this model, we've also been looking at the sleepeezee backcare extreme which we're also considering getting but not sure.

Most of the big retailers have models renamed (and sometimes made to a lower spec) so that they can either give fake price promises, and/or give massively inflated RRP's so that they can then say that they have a huge sale. When in fact they are selling the items for more in their so called sale than other retailers do at their normal price. It's all part of marketing. If people believe they are getting a bargain then they will buy it.
If I were you I would stay away from big brand names and big chain stores if you want good quality at a low price, and shop on line from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee that allows you to actually unpack and sleep on the mattress. This way it is in their interest to make sure that you make the right choice the first time.0 -
Hi Tim,
Thanks very much for replying. We were in PS today and over heard the sales assistant telling another customer that getting info about beds on line wasn't a good idea!
My wife and I have now tried out many beds from small independent shops and stores to the larger ones.
Do you or anyone reading this know of the rep of sleepeezy these days? The two beds we have mentioned are the only two we like and are hoping to buy one of them. We prefer the Illusion but don't want to pay PS prices for it but cant find it elsewhere, some people have mentioned finding same spec bed in line but we don't want to take that risk and get wrong bed!
One other bed we like has a wool top but we dont feel the bed in general is well made but we like the feel of that. Is a memory foam bad compared to wool?
Thanks0 -

Well they would say that wouldn't they, because they want you to buy from them.My wife and I have now tried out many beds from small independent shops and stores to the larger ones.

They are one of many who have lowered their quality to cut production costs over recent years. In fact most of the big brands have done this, which is why I said to stay clear of big brands.
One thing many of the big brands seem to concentrate on these days is making the mattresses comfortable when new, rather than long term reliability. So it is often the case that a mattress feels really comfy for the first 6 or 12 months, but then starts to go down hill. One other bed we like has a wool top but we dont feel the bed in general is well made but we like the feel of that. That depends what you are looking for? My mattress is pocket sprung with memory foam, if that's anything to go by.
You have to realise that most mattresses that claim to contain things like wool, silk, etc.. only contain a small amount.0 -
Hi Tim,
We are looking for a firm bed but with a soft top layer but still that support underneath.
It really is astonishing the lengths these stores go to to sucker people in. Its one thing to make a profit etc, but I have friends who have back problems, seeing physios etc and they think they have got really good beds because they got them from dreams and places like dreams and paid a fortune for them.....
The whole experience so far has been a real eye opener, we thought it would be easy but every time we find one we like, its research on line then ten paces back. The one thing that consoles us about Sleepeezee is that they have a 5 year guarantee and we haven't found any bad press about their beds as such.
Do you know anything about Kozeesleep mattresses. We recently stayed at a holiday rental where they had a Kozeesleep Pocketmaster mattress which we quite liked but perhaps a little to firm for us.
Thanks

I actually talk to 100's of people, who often tell me about previous experiences with mattresses. And believe me I have heard many horror stories about most of the big brands. Have you read the small print about their guarantee?
Many manufacturers who give long proper guarantees (rather than warranties on a sliding scale), actually over price their products so much that they can afford to replace the mattress 3 times within the guarantee period, and still make a nice profit.
When you see a longer warranty, it is usually on a sliding scale. All products must have a design life. So for example if something has a design life of 5 years, and develops a fault due to materials or workmanship after 4 years, then the manufacturer must pay towards the cost of replacement or repair. But you would have to pay 80% plus delivery. So when manufacturers give a 5 year warranty, then they are only doing what they are obliged to do by law, but they are using it as a sales gimmick.
If there was a fault in the manufacturing process then it should appear within 12 months anyway.
Kozeesleep are a very good brand (as long as you go for the Dewsbury Kozeesleep, and not the Birmingham one). The pocketmaster was actually their entry level medium to firm pocket sprung mattress until they brought the pocket 800 out. However they have a range of medium pocket sprung mattresses in their range.0
