Won but dissapointed: Red dot of death

I feel I have to post it to warn people.
I won The New Xbox slim about 5 weeks ago with phones4u, it was delivered about 2 weeks ago.
While playing with it tis evening the machine stopped working and a red dot appeared on the console, on reading the instruction manual, it says if this happens the macjine is broken and needs to be sent back for repair, Atfer only 2 weeks and this is the new console.

I had to fill in online to get it repaired, but that link is down and was told keep trying later.
How can a company release a console with instructions in the manual telling people about a problem that exists.
i am very dissapointed as I know I won it but I have spent £150 on games, an extra control and various HDMI cables:(

A lot of people I know have had the same problem, sent it in and been fine once back x

Its a common thing with xboxes hun, with it being so new it will get replaced so don't worry too much. One of my mates has had 7 xboxes in 2 years thanks to RDOD

You'd think they would sort it out before selling it, and admitting the problem in the instruction manual.

well at least I know it will be sorted if I can get through to the help and repair centre
