Gym Membership-cooling off period?

I'm fuming, I joined the gym last week and was told I just missed the special offer by one day (no joining fee and £99 until end of Dec). So I asked if they would run the offer again and they said no, so I signed up and paid the joining fee £30 plus £35 for the first month.
Went today and the offer is on again!!! I spoke to the duty manager and he said it was bad and that they only just got the offer from head office.
My point is what can I do? I feel really fleeced by them! If I threaten to cancel my membership do u think it would work as last resort? I do want to be a member of that gym as it's so convenient for me.
Do I have cooling off period? (I think the answer is no)
Any ideas please :T

Go back and speak to him firmly. As the duty manager he should be able to bend a few rules, particularly if he wants to keep your membership and the monthly income after December!
Just a point - I have been a member of various gyms for nearly 20 years now and I have never paid a joining fee. Why? Because I always point blank refuse to. It's amazing how quickly they agree to this when they realise that if they say "no" I'll go elsewhere and they'll lose their monthly fees. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160
