Employed + Self Employed (Mortgage query)

  • We have just been remortgaging and are in a similar position.
I have been self employed for 16 years and never had a problem getting a mortgage with 1-2 year old accounts, but this time the Alliance and Leicester wanted up to date books ( as every s/e person knows - this is a pipe dream), and our mortgage advisor said that everyone is really checking up on income etc at the moment.
We can proceed this time on just my husbands income, but will make sure everything is up to date next time we do this.
My overall advice is not too good - you will need up to date accounts to get a good deal - it will be worth it in the long run.
    Best of luck.
NO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........
