Post Office Mortgage Review

  • Registered here just to say that we're very please with Post Office Mortgages. Applied for a 90% 2yr fixed a couple of weeks ago, valuation done 2 days later, and had the offer confirmed via text only 7 days after applying (including the bank holiday weekend). And although it only took a week, we were kept informed via text message each step of the way.

I'm looking at getting a Post Office mortgage, how's the service looking these days. For various reasons I'm looking for someone who is quick at processing applications.

I applied for mine on 24th March and my timescales were almost exactly the same as the OP. They were very quick and very proactive. They only delay with getting my full offer was due to my solicitor not being on their panel, but that was my fault, not theirs.

I used them 3 years ago aswell, although that purchase didn't go ahead and they were the same then. Back then they were even willing to lend to me on a property that was stated in their policy as being one they wouldn't lend on (houses split into two flats, and being sold with a new lease for the first time).

I am a potential FTB and considering applying for a mortgage with the Post Office.

I will be a single applicant (although my husband will be living with me) looking at 90% LTV.

My salary is £25k pa and the property prices I am looking at is £90 give or take 5%.

    Anyone else with similar circumstances?

What advice are you actually wanting, specifically?

I just wondered, of the above people who applied to the Post Office, did any of them have similar curcumstances to me? i.e. a single applicant looking for a high LTV?

I read somewhere that PO do not offer mortgages through brokers is that true?
