Colour scheme - opinions please

We had decided on an Ivory/Red colour scheme with a hint of gold.

The invitations are on Ivory card with gold and red ribbons.
I (the groom) had decided on an ivory waistcoat with red cravat and the function room in of red decor which was pure coincidence.

My OH has decided that for the bridesmaids she wants an Ivory dress with a champagne colour to complement the dresses in some way.

Think this will look silly. Whats are peoples views?
Whats the tradition. Do bridesmaids match the best man? Could i be in red and the best man wear champagne. This will also tell us apart.

Any opinions,thanks

if your OH wants the BM's to wear ivory dresses, what colour is her dress??
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

I think that with gold jewellery the dresses could look lovely maybe instead of the champagne accents they could be gold?

I think it would be lovely to have the BM etc in champagne waistcoats with the red cravats to seperate yourself slightly and from what i have seen they can be somewhat cheaper than ivory ones as you can get evening ones not wedding ones (that look almost exactly the same)

try and get some fabric swatches of each item and then you can see them together and have a play around with them and see if you and the OH really like it or not
The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 5
  • Personally I think your OH needs to make a decision about her own dress before you can decide on a colour scheme, unless she's happy to fit in with what everyone else is wearing.

I am guessing the Bride knows what she's doing with her dress already and it all works - I think you should go along with it. If you're very unhappy about it you may have to tell her - but I think she's got the grand scheme already worked out.... Perhaps let her ask the question somewhere you can't read it and I am convinced the responses will say "yes it sounds fab" - and get her to show you the Poll results or something.
    I love surprises!
