a credit check for a job? why would it?Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -
Normally the job profile would say what kind of checks they need to do. They will do a CRB check.
Banks tend to do credit checks on employees. I suppose a prison may wish to make sure that you are solvent (and therefore not likely to do back-handers with the inmates) but I wouldn't have thought so if they haven't made this clear. I think whatever, they need your permission to do any checks they want to make, including CRB.
Good luck with the application.Hoping to create a beautiful life for DS and I.
As of April 2025...
Current mortgage: £357,410.56. Approx current house value £550k. Mortgage up Sept 2026
Current retraining fund: £26,735 (planned career change by 2030)
Current emergency fund: £9,197
Current buy out/moving fund: £42,152.52 (plus equity)0 -
probably not a credit check, but they will use a vetting form. I cant remember how much about finances is on the form, not a lot from what i remember. Prison officers have to declare serious financial troubles in case it makes them vulnerable, but looking at yolur signature you are not in the sort of debt that would concern them anyway. dont worry, and good luck.0

I assume your refering to this part:
Bankruptcy
You must not be an undischarged bankrupt.
As far as i am aware its just a tick box on the application form I don't think they actually check. You usually have to sign to declare what you have put in the form is true.0 -

This above is kinda where I was coming from....although I would hope to NOT have contact with the inmates!
The ad didnt mention a credit check or I wouldnt have applied knowing I wouldnt pass. (defaults only, not bankrupt) Im not in the least worried about any background checks etc
Fingers crossed for the interview then, its not for a fortnight yetThanks guys
