It's hit us hard, we had to move out of our flat because of my illness we needed somewhere more suitable. We did this but selling the flat is taking time(partly due to lack of FTB) but we have decided to rent it out next month but this will only just cover the bills.
Hubby was a newish business so that got hit hard and where we are now is where it should have been a year ago if not sooner iyswim...You never know when the money will come in.
I can't work to help either which is incredibly fustrating as I did in the beginning part time as i will probably never be able to work full time. I know the small amount of benefit i do get will probably face the axe end of this year, early next year so that will be another blow and make things harder.
You have to watch where you're driving as well as petrol is a big outgoing. We have two cars as i do need one when hubby is away on business but it's one small car and one bigger car and both are 5 and 6 years old respectively and one was nearly taken off road last year as we couldn't afford to fix it. Even thigns such as regular servicing go by the wayside.
We don't go out for meals, cinema things like that anymore mainly since the recession hit as it cost too much money and i know we aren't the only ones to have social lives curtailed in the wake of it. It's all the little things that get affected as well such as not giving each other presents and things.
I think it will impact for years to come for many people. Even things like having children is too big an expense for many including us even if i did get well enough to have them.0
