did next directory have the right to open an account?

oh what a pain. i got a first time user card so i could order a £15 item and receive £10 discount. i have been staying at my parents for a couple of weeks pony sitting while they are away so i placed an order to be delivered here. as i am married and have diff name (and have for many years) i did not expect them to open an account for me!!
I cannot get credit anymore at my own address- and am virtually debt free now anyway- and have never lived at my parents...anyway so i placed the order and discovered they completed the order before i inset my card details. so i rang them up and told them this and they said they would close the account and were apologetic. they also told me i would receive a statement!!! I didnt want that didnt think my parents would be impressed with that! i said i didnt want one as i didnt have account etc...
anyway next day the ordered item blooming arrived with me!!
so rang them up they said sorry but was i happy with item. i said well yes but didnt want account. they said i can pay for item and account closed. then i couldnt pay because my card isnt registered to delivery address....i then rang bank asked them to add this address called NEXT back but the payment wouldnt still go through grrrrr. so i did bank transfer at their request instead and still waiting the 5 days for that to go through. in the meantine TODAY a next directory arrives and a welcome pack! they MUST have sent this after i told them to close the account this is driving me mad! How can they open an account for somebody who doesnt LIVE and never has lived and doesnt have the same name as anybody at an address surely they do credit checks first?! they wouldnt give me an account at my home address when i asked a couple of years ago lol.
