Single-sided double-layer DVDs (DVD-9)

Hello,
Does anyone know of a cheap source for *single-sided double-layer* DVDs (aka DVD-9). Currently, they only seem to be available in jewel cases and cost at least £2.75. Some shops sell packs of five, but still, each DVD is in a jewel case and they still cost around £3 per DVD.

Single-sided, single-layer DVDs now only cost 15p (for instance at http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/) and there is no reason why DVD-9 should cost 20 times that other than lack of demand.

Does anyone know where or whether you can by a spindle of DVD-9, without cases? Or any other cheap source?

DVD-9 Writer drives are still quite rare therefore the discs are still expensive as the demand for them isn't great yet. You'll be hard pushed to find them for cheaper then £3 unfortunately. But, it's just had normal DVD's were when they first came out. They'll come down in price, be sure to keep looking. BTW, if you need a DVD-R/W capable of Dual Layer, try https://www.novatech.com and look for the NEC Drive. Not only can it burn DVD-9 but it can do standard DVD's upto 16x (again a relatively uncommon disc format atm)

Yes, I know, it is just a question of time until prices fall...

An even better deal for a DVD drive: LG GSA-4163. It supports even more formats than the NEC drive and had excellent reviews. Best price at https://www.microdirect.co.uk (currently £39.94 inc VAT).
