where to buy sand in small quantities?

can anyone help?
i after making some of them rocks with little toys dinosaurs in/treasures, that the kids can break open but i cant find sand!
well i can but its in HUGE bags and i need, at most about 2-3 cupfuls.
anyone know where i can buy it in small quantities?

thats so nice, but wouldnt your dd mind?

What about the 'decorative' sand that you can buy to use with candles. Would that work?A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0

For the special sand you use for kids sand pits, I think toysarus sell it in smallish bags. I may have seen it also in B&Q, but not sure about that.0

Pet shops! Pet shops that stock fish/reptiles will have little bags of sand for £2-3 for using as substrate. It's usually in the fish section than the reptile section, HTH0

If you only need such a small amount perhaps a local playgroup or after school club would help you out. It might be worth asking them if you can buy a small amount from them.0

thanks everyone upsy-daisy has offered to help me out, but if that doesnt work out i will try my local pet shop!
