I would! - Sorry this is a slightly old thread I know, but I am looking for my perfect perfume. So if the above poster is still around please PM me!
Also, does anyone know of cheap alternatives to:
Estee Lauder - Bronze Goddess - the one that smells like holidays in the sun.
Or any of the Jo Malone perfumes, as these all look like they will smell lush but not got a Boutique close to me and they will not send me any testers (and I'm not forking out £4/£5 plus postage for one small vial off ebay!). So an alternative would be fine in my eyes (and on the purse!).
Many thanks all.
You can get testers for $3 from a site called SurrenderToChance.com. Obviously not free and shipping is $6, but you can get the full set in one batch.
Possibly a bit obscure, but Laura Mercier Vanille Gourmande smells a bit like the much cheaper Bvlgari Black.0 -
Anyone know a good likeness for Tom Fords - Oud Wood Eau De Perfume? It's a Unisex Fragrance from his Private Blend collection.
It's very hard to come by the original let alone anything like it. The original is (To my knowledge) only sold in Harrods, Harvey Nichols and maybe Selfrages?
It's not the kind of sent that works well on all skin, but when it does, it's magic! To pre-empt some replies, I know Tom Ford had before already done an oud sent with M7, created under his direction for Yves Saint Laurent. In fact this is like a toned down version of M7. M7 was introduced in around 2002, but... (and what a ba*tard) he apparently took it back before leaving so it's no longer in production by YSL.
Anyway, to give you an idea as to what it's like, it’s a dark-ish, earthy wood scent, as was M7, and the latter’s bitter, almost medicinal undertone is still there (the notes for Oud Wood: rosewood, cardamom, Chinese pepper, oud, sandalwood, vetiver, tonka bean, vanilla and amber). It’s lighter in Oud Wood though, and it doesn’t last as long; overall, Oud Wood is a quieter fragrance, with the oud itself softened by the vanilla and other wood notes. It does have a nice bite to it, but it isn’t nearly as heavily spiced as M7. God, can't believe I just typed that.. Maybe I should start reviewing wines or something?
Anyway, any recommendations gladly received.
Have you asked on the Basenotes forum? There are a lot of oud fans on there. Comme Des Garcons do a lot of wood and smoke-based fragrances, but unless you are near Liberty in London, or a Selfridges, they aren't that easy to try before buying. Oud doesn't agree with me so I couldn't recommend anything myself. Le Labo do an oud fragrance I think but they are very expensive (if long lasting)0 -
Hey all,
the webshop vismaressence.com does also offer a large variety of perfumes that smell like well-known fragrances.0 -
I haven't tried it myself but I read on a blog that a perfume from Lidl called Suddenly Madame Glamour smells very similar to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle! Retails for £4. I intend to investigate! :-)0

My friend at work is a big fan of Chanel Mademoiselle, when I started wearing my Lidl perfume for the first time, she was certain that I was wearing Chanellol. I have been trying to get hold of another bottle, but it is hardly ever in stock at Lidl

I presume since you are a newbie that you are promoting the site.
I will ask the question even so. How good are they products and how long do they last on the skin.0 -
