No response yet from Cento, but MoJ and FOS both responded to the copies of my letter to Cento. MoJ want to know if I don't get a response from Cento within 28 days.

I'm still getting together all the info I need to start claiming back the PPI myself. However, when I looked out the paperwork from when we took out our mortgage in 2002, I've found the following:

Northern Rock "strongly recommended" in a letter that we take out PPI with L & G, so we did (I've found a copy of the application form - I'd completely forgotten we did that!). NR told us the first 6 months' cover would be free and then premiums would be paid direct to L & G. I know we don't have any payments going out to L & G and no premiums show on our NR mortgage statement, so now I'm doubting whether we actually have PPI (even though Cento assured me that we do when they cold called us, and even told me what the premium is). How can I find out? Should I just call NR or L & G and ask them?

I have a feeling we've been led up the garden path by Cento in more ways than one!!
This is looking to be proof of what chancers these type firms really are. They mostly ring in hope that by telling you that you have a claim for missold PPI and not really knowing whether you actually have it or not. I take it they asked for money up front for this and this is why you have complained to the MOJ???

What have you done so far in making the complaint yourself? Did you pay anything over to Cento client review or not? WHat is your complaint to them? You really don't want to make a fool of yourself by telling a firm you have been missold when really you have not been missold anything cause you never had it. I would ask for a SAR request from them and you will see exactly what you took out and when and also if in fact you have any PPI at all.

Cento Client Review I think changed their name to Money claiming expert AFTER all the trouble with Cartel client review.
  • We did pay Cento money I'm afraid :embarasse See my original post for the gory details!

If you can prove you actually had not got PPI and they TOLD you you had it then you can write to MOJ and explain and see if they can help (and it will also show MOJ just how these companies work in ripping people off) or try to get your money back legally by sending them a MCOL with your evidence (if you feel confident you have enough that is as there is always a risk you could end up with more costs and have proof to them saying they would readily pay you back after not being able to locate your files!!). DId you sign anything with them? Also there is section 75 IF you paid by credit card????
  • I've written to them and asked for my money back already, stating that they have broken the terms & conditions of our agreement (that they would keep us fully informed of the progress of the claim). I will definitely keep MoJ informed of the situation - I can't believe they can continue trading, all be it under a different name, when they blatantly lie to people to get money out of them. This is the sort of thing people get put in prison for isn't it?

Don't know of any that have yet but time will tell. They do seem to all get away with opening under different names and MOJ seems to allow this to happen... its so confusing TBH. I wish you luck in getting your money back.
  • A friend of mine was approached by them over the phone, paid the £150 admin fee, after about 5 months received compensation for about £1000. They now claim they are entitled to 30% of this aswell - when originally they said it was only the £150 fee they wanted. Not sure about the T and C's she signed.

So in total they want £450 out of £1000 pounds - shame she did not look on this site before being sold to by them.
  • I have a similar problem. Cento Client Review claimed they could seek zero balance and closure of my account due to a loophole in my Egg credit card agreement. It seemed all above board at the time and I stupidly fell for it because they said they are regulated by the ministry of justice! I paid them £250 for their 'Platinum Service'.Pfft. I also gave them info re my credit card agrrement via Egg. Whenever I try to contact them they have said they are still handling my claim, and more recently I have not been able to get through?!! What do I do????
    Stupid Suz:mad:
  • Does anybody have a working number for Cento Client Review??

You have been duped. However, there is probably little you can do about it. You chose to employ a company to try and find ways to avoid paying your legal debts. The company will claim it has attempted to do that (even though there was little chance of success to begin with). So, unless you can find any rules broken by this company, you will have to put it down to experience and learn from it.
