Can someone who knows about mattresses have a look at this http://childrensmattressesonline.co.uk/products/mattresses-by-size/single-3ft/best-seller-190-x-90-cm-fully-sprung-product.html and see if it's any good.
It seems quite a good price but might be a total rip off for all I know. I was going to get the x static cover (silver worked into the fabric). Also should I get it made a bit thicker, (ie a 5" depth rather than 4")? I want her to be comfortable for a while and for it to last for a while. DD is 4 if that makes a difference

Ouch!!....that is very expensive for a basic open coil sprung mattress, especially one that is only 4" deep.
All you need to go for is a middle of the range open coil sprung mattress, which you can then use a breathable waterproof mattress protector on. You can get a good quality one on line that is deep quilted (so you can't feel the springs). For a half decent mattress you want to looking for an absolute minimum of 7" deep.
If I were you I would stay away from big brand names and big chain stores if you want good quality at a low price, and shop on line from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee that allows you to actually unpack and sleep on the mattress. This way it is in their interest to make sure that you make the right choice the first time.0 -
Thanks Tim, see I thought it was really good value. It is hard I think to find a good online supplier who is not a big brand name. Any recommendations anyone?0

Thanks again. I did have a good search, but just ended up more confused than ever. I saw someone was looking at the Highgate range but they are a bit pricy for me. At this rate I will just plump for the silentnight bog standard because it is easy but I hate doing that. Thanks for all your help though0

Sorry for bump, but I followed your advice Tim and think I have found a suitable online company. No doubt they will be closed for bank holiday but at least I can stop looking for mattresses now. I am really glad I asked here first as I would undoubtedly bought that mattress and you were right it was very skinny compared to the one I hope to get now and more expensive. Thanks again!0

The equivalent Highgate should be far cheaper than a Silentnight, and should last far longer.0 -

I'm afraid Airsprung are another big brand that make low quality beds. Stay away from big brands and big stores to get the best buys.0
