Do I tell my current Bank?

Do I need to inform HSBC of my BR or will they automatically close the account?
I have no beef with them, in fact I've been very pleased with the service they've provided, it was a basic account I set up after I stopped paying money into my overdrawn Nat West current account.
There's no money in it (possibly £5 overdrawn now) and there's no payments due to go out until the beginning of Sept, I have just arranged the Cashminder account with the co-op on the phone, just wondering what to do about HSBC?
