Default from Scottish Power

Hi
I received a letter on the 2 August 2010 from Scottish Power which was dated 29 July 2010, advising me that they would register a default if I do not make payment of £98.56 in 28 days.
I have finally got enough to make the payment and clear the account tomorrow. Do you think Scottish Power are likely to register the default if as I say clear the balance tomorrow and are they likely to go from the date of their letter or give me a couple of days extra to take into account me receiving the letter.
I will give them a bell tomorrow to find out but I was wondering what you guys think.
Thanks
Paul

You are cutting it close, and its going to take at least a day for payment to reach them, if not longer as if its not in by Friday due to bank holiday it will take till at least Tuesday.
There are also 31 days in July, so 28 days from the 28th of July was 25th July, that was yesterday.
All you can do is try and contact them, hope for the best.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Hi PaulB79
A default marker is added to your account a very long time after the original invoice is issued to you and has not been paid. Numerous reminder letters will have been issued as well as telephone calls made prior to you receiving the default notice letter. You should have contacted us earlier to see if you could set up a payment plan to spread the debt.
How were you planning on paying? If you are able to make a card payment then this will register quicker on the account than if you were to send a cheque payment. A default marker will stay on your credit file for 6 years. Leaving it this close to make payment is very risky.
Let me know if you want me to look into this for you and to see if it is possible to stop the default marker being set.
Kind Regards
