    im still over the mooooon:rotfl:

Diddly74, i have just found an old post from 2007(so still need to confirm!). It says if a bursary is your SOLE income than you can not be subject to an IPA however in our cas the contributions we get form partners mean IPA payments.

I have no problem paying it i am now just worrying that i will be much worse off for the next 3 years of study, while trying to better life. Rather than me starting next year and being discharged with no IPA:(

To be honest Missy I didn't ask for allowance to be made for me regarding placements - I just put what it costs me for a normal week at uni, petrol and parking you know. I didn't ask for anything special otherwise, but then I had already started uni and just looked at it as I would if I was working. Costs to go up when I am on placement as you can be sent anywhere, you are on shift and as a Student they don't let us park in the staff car park at our hospitals so we have to pay full whack! Which can be over a £5.00 a day easy! What Uni will you be attending?

I do know (as I keep a spreadsheet of all our spending and bills) that costs such as petrol and food have gone up significantly since I submitted my SOA in March! I wonder what the "Allowances" are now??? surley you can update them of rises in expenditures too?

Im at wolverhampton uni but its in the Walsall campus. My placements are covering the Sandwell area so i could be all over, walsall, smethwick, west brom, dudley, city...everywhere!

Its harder not knowing what things will cost, i dont care now, no more stressing im going to be happy im just moving forward!

    ill keep you posted

  • Hey guys - am in the same boat. GOing BR tomorrow :( and starting PGCE training in September - still scared about the implications and worried they'll limit me but just can't carry this debt any more. Really hope they can't touch my bursary as would be really out of order when it is for you training and it's not enough to live on really!

well im still waiting to even apply! form what iv found they will take the bursary as an income, however the loss of my part time job and the expenses of travel etc will not leave much left!

    ill keep you posted
  • I am Not a student but if this helps we went bancrupt last year and are now discharged. We werent on a payment order either they just took my partners tax instead of it going to the tax man!! However his wage had a chance of fluctuating so basically you need to prove that your income only covers EVERTHING you HAVE TO PAY OUT TO LIVE!! so if it is all needed then you should be fine! They are pretty good at what is reasonable to live on, things like for a family (us) of 2 adults and 2 kids it was about £520 a month housekeeping - including toiletries, newspapers, etc. £only 20 a month for birthdays and xmasses but dont forget dentists, opticians, etc We put down £104 clothes allowance, all your travel / petrol costs, running of car (if you entitled to keep them) Hospital appointments travel costs (regular ones) JUST DONT FORGET ANYTHING!!! AND THEY DO NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT CHILD BENEFIT because thats NOT YOURS!!! Its your kids x
    Hope this helps x

They didn't used to take child benefit into account but they do now, so that is one of the rules that have changed in the last year or so.

Good luck missy, just think if you start now you'll be qualified that much sooner!!
