On the window sill where the oils are kept in the kitchen, everything is covered in a sticky grey muck (may be grey from dust!) - and it's NOT coming off. I've tried vinegar and lemon juice, washing up liquid and kitchen cleaner - but OS or chemical its not coming off and it's HORRIBLE. Where I've been scrubbing its all tacky on my hands, won't come off either. It must be the oil going all old and sticky... anyway, its horrible and messy, any ideas?? Thanks in advance!! xx

Hmm, I'm not much good at giving advice but last night on Kim and Aggie they cleaned old sellotape marks off a PVC window frame with nail polish remover. However they said it would only work on PVC, not wooden frames because it would probably destroy paint. Maybe worth a try if you have PVC windows?

Yeps, sounds like a mixture of oil and dirt. You'll probably find you have the same thing on top of the kitchen cupboards from the grease liberated from cooking. I've found Stardrops very good for this, also Oxiclean. You need to spray the product on and leave it for a few minutes to work. A scrubby sponge and a microfibre cloth will cut down on the elbow grease needed.0

Hi there, I think it could be worth trying sugar soap as I found it brilliant for cleaning off greasy marks from where I used to have a chip fryer in the kitchen. I bought some ready made up but I'm pretty sure you can buy it 'neat' and then make up a solution yourself. Cheers and good luck!0

Thanks all! Kitchen cleaner left for a while and a scraper/metal brush device that was part of a bbq set seems to have worked, but then - tawnyowls, you were right - the window sill behind the cooker  Nothing is shifting that. What is suagr soap?
Thanks all!

Not sure if this will help but if you spray Pledge polish on a jar where the sicky label has been it makes it dissolve. I think it is the silicon that does it.
Might be worth a try. If you do use sugar soap, wear gloves it's really bad on your skin.

Hi there, sugar soap is used to scrub down walls before painting. Its a decorators thingy but they sell it in most DIY stores, very cheap too!0

HW Soda in hot water - wear gloves - cuts through it like a hot knife through butter......
