Cheapest way of getting fizzy water?

I like drinking fizzy water, I know it's probably bad for me but seems much more refreshing than water straight out of the tap.

Does anyone know the cheapest way of making fizzy water at home? Or is it cheaper just to buy the supermarket's value brands?

  • We buy Aldi sparkling spring water which is cheap. It is better than the value brands that are not spring water just say value sparkling "table water".
  • Spring Water wasnt asked for, just fizzy water, anyway it is available bottle from any supermarket

Well you post was useful. Obviously the OP knows you can buy fizzy water in the supermarket he/she says they drink it.
They really wanted to know if was cheaper making it at home using a SodaStream or similar. I unfortunately don't know the answer on the cost issue I was just saying for the value price of 2 litres for 17p or whatever in the big four supermarkets you can get 2l spring water for a similar price at Aldi which in my opinion tastes better..

Asda's cheapo stuff is spring water bottled at source. I think to be honest it makes it cheaper for them, all they have to do is pump it up from underground. Don't be fooled by the pictures of hills and greenery on bottles either, a big north east bottled water company pumps up water from underneath an industrial estate.

I wouldn't have thought soda streams would be cheaper, the gas canisters seem very expensive.

I was thinking more along the lines of what they have in pubs, with the mixer drinks, but obviously just for the water.
  • If you drink a lot of it you could fit a gas canister in your house, but I am sure too much co2 is also bad for you
