MBNA and First Credit

Firstly before I make this post I know I have probably done the wrong thing but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Anyway...
I have an outstanding MBNA loan account which is in joint names with my ex (no contact anymore). I have been paying my part through Payplan for the last 6 years directly to MBNA. I have recently tried F&Fs with all my creditors and mbna have not responded to any of my letters. Today I called mbna and was informed that the account was passed to First Credit in 2006. MBNA have been forwarding my payments to First Credit but I have had no contact with First Credit about this until (yes I know I shouldn't have) but I called them. At present they have no details on me on this account only that a payment has been going to them from Payplan. They also said they cannot discuss this with me as they have no record of me at this time.
My intention was to send them an F&F for this account. Should I still do this or shall I now wait for them to contact me, which I assume they will as they will chase this up with mbna and probably track me down.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do not chase you up, simply because they are getting paid. If payments cease then it would be worthwhile for them to chase it up.

If you want to go with an F&F offer, go down the lines of writing to first credit and state to them you have only just been made aware that they are acting on MBNAs behalf for this debt. And you would like to request details on the account. Account number, reference no, statement of the debt (inc history when it was MBNAs + First Credit), etc.

Once you have some details, you can make a written request to first credit of an F&F settlement offer.

Thanks for the advice.

Should I include a photocopy of the original mbna agreement doc so that they can see that I am authorised to have this info or is it up to them to find this out for themselves.

I would let them work it out, its best to give them the minimum amount of information required to complete a task you give them. It will either confuse them or they will use it against you.

Keep it simple and to the point, they may well ask for further information and if they do, judge what they should be sent to confirm what it is that you want.
