    90,000 :)

    The figures you are looking at are BBA members only. there is also the CML and cash.

    Ah, so the CML are building societies and the BBA are banks? So do you know what all the figures are - mortgages and cash v house sales?

    Is there some problem with the monthly land registry completion figures that show in house price searches? Someone pointed towards those for a particular post code in the South East as running at about a quarter of the level they were a year ago and I looked for our local area (North West) and got the same sort of results.

    Not exactly, but I think around 1/3 are cash at the moment. (but don't hold me to it) house sales were 90,000 last month so 60K Mortgage 30K Cash.

    Indeed add that to people withdrawing savings and it looks like some are trying to get better returns on large sums of cash.
