I am finding it more difficult to buy high end make up and seem to be relying on the no7 voucher7 and avon sales.

I buy for the product rather than the price.
Mine tend to be mid range & high end stuff, I don't buy any cheap makes (the power of packaging huh).
If a mid range product does a great job I will use it rather than a high end though.
Love No.7 intelligent colour foundation.0 -
I recently spent £111 on MAC products as I seem to react to budget products. Well ok, I react to cheaper foundations and I just wanted the rest of the items I bought.
I've also just spent (well the OH did as its my Xmas pressie) £27 on the new Urban Decay Naked palette. Don't get me wrong, I love some of the l'oreal eyeshadows and barry m nail paints.
I blame lollipop26, sice watching her vlog and you tube tutorials I'm drooling over expensive things - excuses eh?:rotfl:Make £10 a day challenge (August) - £175/£3100 -

Did spend £25 on Estee Lauder double wear foundation yesterday, I rarely see it on Ebay much cheaper and as it was at Boots I had the £5 no7 voucher, advantage points and a free serum and small pot of moisturiser. Even so £25 is a fair bit over what I want to pay and I'm wondering what cheaper ones might do the same job. Other make up I don't really stick to any particular brand and if I get a bargain - usually on Ebay for make up, then that's all I worry about.
I couldn't see anything special that I needed on the no7 counter so still have my voucher to use.0 -
Try markets for cheaper big brands. I know in Blackpool they have loads of market stalls that are nothing but make up. Yes they stock the cheap brands but I found Rimmel and no7 foundation there for £3 and estee lauder mascara for £4 (brown/black). Also if you like Revlon (I'm allergic), Poundland stock this but it varies what they have.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

I just spent £27 on a clinique foundation :eek::eek:
I've only ever really bought no 7 before and it was always on 3 4 2 or with the £5 voucher.
It does look nice though

I spent £75 on bobbi brown the other week. The most expensive item was a primer for £33 but it smells so lovely and proper.
I do think you get what you pay for..but as someone else says i'll still buy some bits from the cheaper brands like nail varnish and if i see a nice eye shadow...but id never go back to buying foundation or bronzers from a shelf again0 -

I have Estee Lauder foundation & other expensive ones & I do have pretty expensive taste in make up, but honestly No.7 intelligent colour is the best foundation (£15) for me, I've ever found.0 -
I worked on No 7 counter for christmas and i found all there foundation really hard to match to peoples skin tone, very yellow like. I like cliniques almost make up and i love l'oreal blonde bronzer. Still trying to find perfect mascara again since Lancome stopped doing my fav one in Brown.
I love some of Dior's and Bobbi brown but at £33 for a powder of Diors i still looking at the shinny wrapper in the shop !!!0 -
I would spend a lot if there was no cheaper alternative which I have learned there normally is, I think a lot of it is knowing which companies use the same factories to make thier products (for example Chanel and Bourjois) and working out what works for you, just becuase it has a hefty price tag doesnt mean its got any better ingredients in so you really need to know the science bit as well, as for pigment maybe it was true years ago that more expensive products had more pigment than others but its not the case anymore if you know what your looking for, one example would be Wet n Wild eyeshadows are fantastic, non creasing, easy to apply and highly pigmented and cost less than £2, I am wearing a wet n wild nail varnish in a beautiful greige colour that dosent stain, is easy to apply and hasnt chipped for five days, again under £2, now skincare thats another matter.............Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

My holy grail foundation is Sisley and its near or over £70 now. Not sure as I go to ebay France and buy brand new testers for £20+. UK ebay never has the lightest shade.
I love Essie polish but again ebay this time the US as they are usually £2+ plus shipping still cheaper than buy instore in the UK.0
