Selling an old car in NI

Hi guys,

I have just changed car so have a 1992 ford fiesta that I need to move on. Although old it isnt really in the 'old banger' league and is really in pretty good shape (with only 40k miles). Where would be the best spot to try and sell it? (If I got much more than £200 I would be very happy!).

Thanks for your help!

    Is it MoT'd?
  • Try the ads for free paper! I'd say you'll have plenty of interest though

  • ebay's a good option too. sold a 18 year old audi there for £300 when there were no takers from the paper. it's also cheaper than the telegraph or autotrader to advertise the car.

Just done the same thing myself - wanted to sell an old car with no advertsisng costs. I put it in 3 places as follows:
    1) ads for free - problem with this was that it attracted a lot of traders who simply wanted to buy car to sell it on so were offering me extremely low money, and quite aggresive on the phone
    2) Newsletter - they actually do free car ads, which I didnt realise - I had a great response from this and it tended to be 'normal' people looking for a car for son/daughter
    3) Gumtree website - response rate was low, but some scam merchants also contacted me via this so beware!

The Newsletter was certainly the option I got best response from

  • Thanks guys! The car is MOT'd until december and taxed until next june. I am encouraged by your comments, I have to admit I didnt think the free telegraph ads would have had much success!
