Skipton Mortgages Lending Criteria

Hi all,

I saw a mortgage broker at the weekend who run some mortgage quotes for me and showed me what I can expect to pay back on various mortgages, should I wish to apply.

One of the options was Skipton, so I looked them up online but can't find anything about lending criteria. Has anyone used them before and know how strict their lending criteria is? My credit score is poor, but improving - although I doubt they take much notice of the improving bit!

Thanks.

Did your broker not match the products to your criteria? If so you should not need to worry about it.

I've been with them for 5years and am happy with them.

He did, but he mentioned that Skipton were new to the 90% market so wasn't as sure how they would feel about my credit rating.

As it was our first meeting, it was more a case of what's out there for what we can afford.

Skipton new to the market (they have recently returned to 90% - not sure of the product issue date to be honest - but offered them for many years previously) ?????

"Skipton Building Society is the UK's fourth largest building society. Founded in 1853, Skipton enjoys a national presence represented by its 92 branches, covering Aberdeen to Plymouth, with over 850,000 members"

No problem with Skipton per se - not sure that I would be taking "poor credit score" to them !!

From their intermediaries general criteria docs ....

    The following is allowed:
    • One CCJ of no more than £500 within the last 3 years and must have been satisfied for at least 12 months from the credit search enquiry.
    • No more than two defaults registered, not exceeding £500 each, and must have been satisfied for at least 12 months from the credit search enquiry.
At 90% they are ,I confidently assume, going to apply much stricter definition than simply the above (as is any 90% lender).

I assume (hope) your broker has taken full details of your credit history into account (i.e seen your report) and would be planning to pre-check with their BDM/helpdesk before processing DIP or Application.

  • That's great, thanks.

Yes, I took my full report in to show him so he knows what is on there.
