Mariel I was exactly the same and when I talked to my mum last night i mentioned that I had cleaned it and she didn't know about them either, she's off to clean her's today!
I was just trained by my dad NOT to read instruction manuals........
Must say it's washing better without the coins in, so they must have affected the drainage.0
