I would definitely get all the bicarb and debris off first and then, as others have said, go at it with biological liquid and stardrops. You will need to keep doing it and the smell will go eventually. Throw open all the windows and spray air freshener round too!
And don't forget the disinfectant. Perhaps the dog could be put in a room with a hard floor in future?
The bicarb dis a good job of stopping the 'stuff' soaking too far into the carpet and sort of made it solidish enough to sweep quite a bit up. Ive attaked it with vinegar and water, stardrops and bio washing powder. Then sprinkled more bicarb a couple of times.
I'd got all that cleaned up then the next day DD2 walked something nasty in on her shoes. Luckily I caught her before she got too far into the house. ( think it was fox poo ) so had to start all over again.
DD1 told me later that day that the dog had stolen a great big bar of chocolate from her room the day before he had the runs, so now we know why!!!! Next time she cleans it up.
