What happens to joint debt in br

Could someone please inform me what happens to joint debts in bankruptcy. I am aiming to do the deed next month but partner and I have a joint account which is about £300 overdrawn plus a mortgage shortfall (unsecured agreement) with Northern Rock. I accept he will become liable for these but will he be chased for immediate payment of these or will they continue with the agreement in his name. Partner cannot go BR due to business. Will his credit rating be shot due to links with myself. Any advise please.
