Useless price drop

Less than 90 minutes ago I received an e-mail from Argos advising me of "100s of catalogue prices dropped". the e-mail included a Samsung washing machine. As we are presently looking for a new washer, I followed the link to discover a reduction of £150 but that this item was not available for store pick-up, nor was it in stock for home delivery. In other words, they don't have any. I found the same thing last year when I tried to buy a lawnmower that they featured in their adverising as being greatly reduced.

Checked out Argos site and confirmed your complaint was accurate. Spent the last hour searching for info as I'm sure that advertising goods that are unavailable is an offense. Couldn't find the precise rule but I believe that it is something to do with advertising an unavailable item at a very low price in order to attract customers to view higher priced alternative items. Maybe a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority or Trading Standards is in order?0

The Samsung Washing Machine at £199 seems a bargain but Samsung spares prices can be extortionate. When a simple item like a door seal costs nearly £100 it gives the machine only an expected 5 year life.0

I got the Argos email first thing yesterday morning, over 18 hours before you did - I'm guessing they might have sold out in that period, rather than it being a null offer...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

I think alot of Argos sales stock is very limited, i tried to buy about 12 items and checked stock in 5 stores, none had any in. What a waste of timenow mum of 4!!!0

I wouldn't order large domestic appliance from Argos.
A few years back I ordered a LG Washer/dryer. Took them 2 weeks to deliver it unfortunately they sent a gas cooker instead, and took another 2weeks to get a refund....
6 months later they phoned me and said "can we have our washing m/c back please". I explained I did not accept delivery of the cooker come washing machine."Food has replaced sex in my life. Now, even I can't get into my own pants."0 -

On the point of the original thread I have to agree. On the day I received the email I tried without success to locate some early chrissy pressies for the kids and every one of about 6 or 7 items was out of stock around Swindon, Bristol and Nottingham (friends up there you see). And this on the same day the email was listed!!
I have just tried to help out a couple of posters desperately trying to find stock and again no luck in all these places (and seems others are trying for them too to no avail). What's the point of having a sale if there's no stock to sell ??
I suspect the staff are nabbing the best bargains before anybody even hears about them ! (apologies if I am doing any Argos employees a disservice).0 -

different parts of the country are seviced by different warehouses, so this could be an explaination as to why some areas have stock, yet others dontknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Always out of stock it is a miracle if you can find one of the bargains in emails0
