thanks for the reply, I do have a limited company but normally it is there as a vessel for me to get paid (I am an IT Contractor) but i've being thinking of getting involved in other things, however it is a business, registered and all that, it is just not VAT registered but that shouldnt make a difference I guess.
  • Can you buy an item get all the comformation that its yours then only to be told by stockshifters that the item is no longer available.
Is there any action you can take.

Am a member, however blocked now at work:mad:.
Anyway i looked at rather a large electrical lot in the tens of thousands of pounds. when i asked what the reserve price was, once the VAT had been factored in 20% the cost per unit was already above what was an established price online....
Im not saying that all lots are like that, but generally having watched some quite closely it doesnt appear that there is that much profit for selling electricals online if bought from there.

I used to work in electrical shops (before they went bust!) and can tell you generally margins are super-low in that area, 5% is typical, or was back in the '90s when I worked for them. Anyone remember Rumbelows? :) Why do you think they all moved to out of town sites?

I remember when I worked in a computer shop, that also went bust, we made more money selling a budget Amiga game for £9.99 than we made selling a Super Nintendo console for £149.99

Anyway, I digress, there are some good margin items around but you need to research fairly well before commiting to buy anything.

Bought a couple of lots and sold them. basically made a little profit but not enough to consider it worthwhile for me. They arent brand new so dont have a full warranty and people seem to steer clear of them.
  • I've always though that tax on used goods but going by the description, some listings appear to be just that. used or refurbished, iPhones in particular. cheaper to buy off ebay.
  • Used this company to sell on before. Would not recommend, poor site, bankruptcy prices, rubbish customer service, enough said,

Stick to the big boys like ebay and amazon, they are 1000 x more powerful that these small wannabe sites!
