Carphone Warehouse Vodafone Dongle Deal..or is it

Options
Saw an advert in the NOTW yesterday from the Carphone Warehouse which showed a Vodafone Dongle for £4.99 plus £15 top up with 3GB.

I thought I'd have two of those so called to order them today only to be told they are £19.99. The way the advert was laid out I read that it was £4.99 including the £15 top up as some sort of special deal. So not quite as good after all. Did anyone think the same? The guy I spoke with wouldn't even do a deal for two.

Shame as I could really do with one, but dont warrant spending that much as it would only be occasional use.

If they were £5 for £15 credit then everyone would just buy 12 dongles to last them a year. It's not like you'd be worrying about keeping your number like you would with mobile SIMS.

To be fair £5 is a good price, not that long ago they were £100 and wouldn't dip below that, they then eventually went to £50 and I grabbed one at that price. So £5 is an absolute bargain!

The only thing I'd say is if it is only for light use consider a Three dongle which is £10 for 1GB. That is fine for us for a week of holiday light use, you'd save £5 a month.

No I think theres some confusion, what I'm saying is that the advert appeared to suggest it was £4.99 with £15 credit included, so seeing it was a good deal was getting two, one for me and one for a friend.

When i rang to order I was told that it was in fact £19.99, sorry if there was confusion, I was merely asking if anyone had seen the advert and taken it how I and several others had done.

I haven't seen the advert perhaps it would be worth reporting it to the ASA if it is misleading?

£4.99 plus £15 is £19.99. Hardly misleading, is it? The trouble is you saw this but read, "Dongle plus £15 credit for £4.99.

I've seen a lot of phones advertised over the years along these lines, i.e.
£30 when bought with £10 top up.
