Free discreet Chlamydia postal testing for under 25s

Hi All

Went to my GPs the other day and in the toilet were free Chlamydia testing kits for those under 25s. You simply send a urine sample off for testing and they send you the results back, so you don't have to face anyone if you don't want to.

You can also apply for a free kit by post or look on this website for details:
http://www.chlamydiascreening.nhs.uk/

It said that if you ask for a test kit to be posted, it comes in a discreet, unmarked package so noone need know what it's for.

It's one of the most common STIs and often has no symptoms, yet it is easy to transmit and can render you unable to have children.

If I was under 25, I would defintely have taken them up on this offer!

Go for it!

They have these in the pharmacy at the gp surgery where i work, just ask and they will give it to you, no questions etc. I think you can get the results text to you. If you need treatment its really easy, just a course of antibiotics. But it is so important to get treatment. Chlamydia often has no symptoms but left untreated can cause infretility in women. You may have only slept with one person, but you don't know how many people they have slept with, or how many people the one other person they have slept with. This is a BIG problem in the under 25's, GO AND GET TESTED.

Also i went to my docs last week for a review a he asked if i wanted one i said id had the dreaded gynoecologist visits as every female has to endure and all my test come back clean (which i knew they would) and he said that it can sometime have false negative results so its best to do a urine test aswell so these are a sure fire way to know for sure :)

He probably gets paid for each test that is taken via his surgery. It's being disinterested :) !
