Setting Off Query

Hi,

I have a Barclaycard which i am trying to agree a F & F settlement for.

However i also have a current account and joint account with Barclays.

Is it possible that barclaycard can "take" any money for either of these accounts to pay off the barclaycard?

Thanks.

Yes it is. You need to open an account with a bank that's not connected to anyone you or your partner owe money to.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

    I have a "empty" credit card with M & S with £4k credit limit.

Would it be advisable for me to transfer the balance of my Barclaycard (£3300) across to the new card?

I thought you were trying to arrage a f + f on it ? , you wont be able to do that till you default it....so swopping it defeats the object ? no ?

Yes i have recently sent a letter trying to agree a F & F. However i expect this to be rejected as i have never broken the terms of my agreement / have kept up with payments etc. and the card is less than a year old.

I am just trying to prevent Barclaycard from taking money out of my joint account as my partner who i share the account with is unaware of my debts.

I am just trying to make sure that i have no debt with the bank that i have the joint account with (Barclays)

Therefore i need to get rid of the credit card that i have with Barclaycard so that they can not take any money from any bank account that i have with them.

I do not want to set up a new bank account as i do not want to raise any suspicion from my partner.
