ordered my panasonic yesterday but still waiting for it to be despatched ooh i cant wait.
Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)
  • Hope you don't mind me butting in, but I've been thinking about getting the Panasonic for ages and I'm still thinking.
The main reason I put it off is because I'm permanently on a diet and I just know I wouldn't be able to resist eating half a loaf every day, lol.
How long does the bread last once made? What's the least calorific way of making it - I have noticed people say they leave out various ingredients, what is the difference, taste-wise?
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I would definitely buy one. We've been using ours on and off since we got it 4 years ago and I go through phases. My children are now 22 months and 3 and never ate much bread but recently they have decided they are addicted to the stuff so we are currently getting through 4 loaves a week.
And as I go shopping once a week only, 4 loaves is a lot of freezer space. and a lot of money. I was buying the Hovis best of both at £1 a time.

I have just calculated that a loaf of 2/3 that size costs 13p in my bread maker - how fab is that :j :j (not counting cost of buying or electricity) so I am planning to use it a lot more from now again.
We dont use skimmed milk powder like the books say, and value price flour, and today I used fresh free yeast from Asda , so that all brings the cost down.

The only thing is my H adores home made bread and eats it cos its there! But it should still work out less oplus I feel very domesticated!!

We also make cakes and pizza dough (which is fab) and I really mus start making more rolls and fancy breads with it.

Good luck. The threads on here are excellent, I've got loads of tips this week.

  • I have the Panasonic SD 253. It is absolutely fantastic! What makes it especially fantastic for me is (apart from the gorgeous bread!) is that it is super easy to clean. You basically just need to give the 'bucket' (whatever it is called lol!) a quick wipe and it is ready to go. You sometimes get a little bit of bread stuck under the 'paddle' (whatever that is called!) but that is easily removed with a toothbrush. So there you go - all in all it is AWESOME! Enjoy it. I HAVE used the raison dispenser and the fruit bread is ohhhh yummy! Just waiting for a loaf to finish cooking now - a granary that is....
