Natwest Loan Payment Problem - urgent help please

Hello

I have been posting on debt free forum as I am looking into a DMP with CCCS but this may take a while to sort out. I need to get all my details together and make the right decision.

In the meantime I have sent lots of token payments with letters explaining my situation (i.e. too many bills - not enough income to cover all and feed family at same time ;))

Biggest problem is I bank NATWESt and have loan (£15000) and overdraft (£3000) with them. I am due to pay mortage this week and utility bills which all come out of current acccount. There is just about enough to cover them - using up the overdraft . I have already withdrawn cash to cover food/bills for next couple of weeks. I know that when NATWEST take loan amount out this will take me over my overdraft which will trigger a charge - on top of all the interest and charges I am already paying.

I have thought of trying to cancel direct debit online but think they will just reinstate it.

anybody any experience of contacting them and arranging to miss one month and then spreading the missed payment over following few months? I contacted branch Friday afternoon and they told me they couldnt look at it - I had to contact loans dept directly.

Came home thinking I must have letterhead with loans dept number on it (or adddress)a nd I havent. If anybody has address for NATWEST loans department that would be great help.

The other worry I have is that I am sure I read somewhere that somebody with NATWEST had missed a loan payment and they had cancelled the customers debit card for current account - what a nigthmare that would be.

Any help/advice/especially from NATWEST experts most appreciated. RON

presumably CCCS and the debt free wannabe board have advised you to open a new bank a/c elsewhere and have your income paid in there and to move your essential bills to the new a/c asap
  • zppp - thanks a lot for pm - just read it . Thanks for your advice

yes thinking of opening sep bank account but apart from loan it it just mortgage and utilities coming out of natwest account so I was hoping to try and keep it -may have to think again

Your NatWest account is dead, mourn it and move on to a new account. If you don't you'll regret it.
If your credit rating is still good get an application in for another account, if its already shot you are looking at a basic bank account. Get this rolling today.

  • Hello - Just an update on this thread. I had posted about strugggling to pay loan last month and was advised contact NATWEST see if would give temp increase to overdraft or similar to cover loan amount and therefore avoid charges. Did this and was told it would be arranged. Just enough extra to cover loan . What happened next........

Not enough in account and loan taken out without temporary overdraft being set up - now have gone over overdraft even though they said would organise temp increase and will incur even more charges -- thanks NATWEST

Previous poster is correct - this relationship is over - I am now looking for basic bank account to get salary paid into - anyone reccommend a good one not connected to dear old NATWEST. Preferably one that allows d/debits and standing orders and that I can use online. Any suggestions wlecome
