Recycling phone chargers

Have accumulated loads of phone chargers/USB connection cables so any ideas if these can be recycled anywhere?

  • I noticed that my local Sainsburys are collecting them for recycling - maybe try there?

I also noticed a charger recyling box at Sainsbury's today - never seen one anywhere else, but thought it's a good idea - I'm off to check through my drawers...!`
  • Hi All

Sainsburys have teamed up with an organisation called
'We are what we do' for a recycle your charger initiative.
The Campaign started on 31 July and ends on 28th August.
Sainsburys are asking everyone to bring their old chargers into
any of their stores and they will recycle them for you.

More about the Sainsburys Campaign here:

You can find out more about the campaign by going
    to recycleyourchargers
( put a .com after chargers and it will take you to the site
as it wont let me post the link)

    Hi MSE-ers
The Sainsburys campaign has finished - does anyone know where else you can recycle chargers? I've got a few built up now.
    Thanks

Phone chargers actually annoy me. Many appliances have now standardised leads to connect them to the electric. Why can't the industry get together and produce one charger that is compatible with all new phones? They wouldn't have to produce and sell a new charger with every phone after that, saving themselves and customers some money, as well as helping reduce electric rubbish. It would also be really helpful as if you ever forgot your charger you could easily borrow one in many situations.

Anyway, as things currently are with old chargers, you might be able to eBay them if they still work.
