Baby Monitor with Sensor Pad

Does anyone know where the cheapest place is to buy a Baby Monitor with a mattress sensor?

Thanks

I don't, but I think on the Families board someone was saying they only work properly until the baby starts moving around the cot ... so it might be worth doing a search over there to check if my memory is right ...

  • I think they're pretty sensitive - breathing will be enough to trigger it.

Our midwife, though, recommended against them unless you know how to do CPR on babies properly - otherwise you don't really get any benefit from them other than to make you paranoid. Also, a friend of ours had one, and the number of times she scared the **** out of her husband in the middle of the night when she lifted their son out of the cot to change or feed him....

We had a monitor with sensor pad for eldest when she came home from Special care, it was great I don't think I would have slept as well with out it. It is very sensitive, she weighed 3lb 12 & it still detected her movement, you soon get into habit of unplugging pad before you pick baby up. We had 2 alarms which made me leap out of bed for it to be cancelled out by daughter moving, had she stopped breathing? I don't know but I think we paid about £90 fo r ours by Johnson & Johnson years ago, it was worth every penny, used it for next baby then solfd it for about half what we had paid for it originally. When we had problems with the monitor (translates into I may have broken it) Johnson & Johnson couried another one to us without charge, excellent service
