Right well first off, you want this over when it's over, you're in no rush. To translate what they said it was basically... "We haven't got it, but we'll get it, and when we get it we'll send it, so wait a minute".

Oh Dear, they're making you wait for it, such a shame, waiting about like that, while time passes by, ticking up the months and years... Ah well nevermind, more tea? ;)
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(
  • I have brought hobnobs this time Hannah! :)

So are you saying that I should do nothing and that this letter is a good thing?

If they were to buy a debt then surely all documentation should come with it. Is it still possible that halifax have this if over 5 years old?

You are not in a rush to resolve this before it becomes statute barred, they are.
Don't acknowledge the debt and don't rush them or yourself into doing anything.
If they can't prove you owe the debt in time to enforce you having to pay it... well that's sad for them. They already know this which is why they started trying to contact you when they did.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything

Exactly what Roberto Moir just said, it's thier problem to prove it before it reaches it's 6th birthday, not yours to chase it down.

    Hobnobs! Even better!
