Does anyone have up to date information as to what kind of card is available with either of these accounts:
NatWest Step Account
RBS Key Account
Is there any reason not to go for them as a discharged bankrupt? The Coop and its Visa Electron is proving to be virtually unusable.
Thanks

I apologise its off tangent, but have you tried Barclays, I've got a basic account with them and the card is just a debit card, but I think its step up from visa electron, but not chq quarentee card.
xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I have both the coop cashminder and a barclays basic account and they both come with Visa Debit. The only problem is the Coop card is still being recognised as an Electron by some retailers, this is not the card or the Coops fault. Some retailers have not updated their BIN databases, and that is why it is till coming up as an Electron with them. I only use the barclay debit card where the coops is not recognised, but to be honest that hardly happens now. If you still have the original electron ask the coop ti change it. As far as I am aware both accounts you asked about come with debit cards:pB&SC No. 298

Coop are insisting the Cashminder does not come with a Visa Debit. I suspect they don't want to upgrade my card until it expires and I've asked that many times that I don't think I can suddenly 'lose' or 'damage' it now. Plus, like you said, even though it says Visa Debit it's still being recognised as Electron by some retailers (I know Tesco do and I use them a lot) so there's probably no point getting it anyway.
Barclays is not an option for me unfortunately. If anyone does know if NatWest or RBS have Visa Debit, please let me know. Thanks.
P.S. No idea why there's that angry face in the corner. It's not directed at anyone.0 -
cashminder has had a visa debit for a fair few months now...suggest you ring back and speak to someone else! and recently there has been confirmation the card now seems to work with tesco online etc
This is the card I had with the account till I changed to natwest...
why is barclays not an option?
Natwest is a solo card BUT will be switching to a visa debit at some point....not sure about RBS accounts however do tend to be a little odd..some people after discharge get..some dontWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
hi me and oh openened a natwest step account nov last year we have visa debit card0

With regards to debit cards, RBS/Natwest only do Visa Debit - nothing else.Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion
